Facility Notice: Consistent with the governor’s executive order to continue to slow the spread of COVID-19, YWCA Minneapolis will extend through at least June 1 temporary closures we implemented for our fitness centers, one of our Early Childhood Education locations and Girls and Youth programming.

Child Care for All Families

We are offering child care for all families at our Midtown, Ecolab and Abbott Northwestern Hospital locations. Beginning June 8, we will reopen our Children’s Center at Downtown for all families.

Fitness Member Information

Will I be charged my May membership dues?

Beginning in May, we will no longer charge membership dues until our fitness centers reopen. Your membership will remain active, and we will notify you before we resume charging monthly membership fees to your account.

We appreciate the overwhelming support received from members over the past several weeks. We are especially grateful to those who have been able to continue their membership, make a donation and help care for our community during this challenging time.

As a nonprofit organization, COVID-19 has presented us with significant financial challenges. The support of members like you means everything to us. If you would like to continue paying your monthly dues please email us at ywca@staging.ywca.snapagency.net. Please also consider making a tax-deductible donation to our Emergency Fund. Any amount helps as we plan for the near future.

We look forward to seeing each of you again when we are able to reopen our fitness centers. Until then, we hope you are staying active and finding our virtual fitness offerings helpful. We are grateful for your ongoing support.

Can I cancel/freeze my membership? Can I do this via email or over the phone?

We will work to provide flexible options to accommodate requests as we receive them. As you can imagine, this situation places an extraordinary burden on nonprofit organizations like YWCA Minneapolis, and we appreciate members who can continue to pay their membership dues during this unprecedented time. Currently, memberships can be placed on hold up to the five months maximum. You can cancel your membership at any time. Please email us at ywca@staging.ywca.snapagency.net or call us at your primary location and leave a message. Someone will return your call within 72 hours.

Is YWCA still paying hourly employees while it is closed?

There are a variety of ways our employees are compensated. Although we face financial challenges as a result of this pandemic, we have chosen to provide some relief to the employees impacted by these temporary closures. We also continue to provide regular updates to our employees about any relief and support offered on a state and federal level.
